great stuff people are saying about our work

What I took from this was how to learn how to cope with my mental health and if I need to step back and just be, I can. So I'm glad we're talking about that and learning how to just step back, ask for help, and build a community where we can feel comfortable with having people help us with different things and learning that people are going through the same thing we are.” - Kyla

It was terrific, and we feel SEEN. It was as if we mattered to the world outside our home, and it felt so sweet to receive so much attention tailored for our little family with a one-on-one shopper experience. They made us feel special with their genuine smiles and hugs. We are still in awe of all our unique gifts and look forward to utilizing them this winter.” – Paola

“Thank you again for the tremendous donation. Everyone seemed very excited about the books.  It's so nice to see those smiling faces being enthusiastic about reading. :)” - A Bridge Home - Venice

“I'm getting older and I am transferring to a new university and I'm looking for new job opportunities and elevating my resume is something that I always wanted to do. And so it happened to be that we're doing that, and it was amazing because I got feedback on what I can change and how different things should look on a resume. And honestly felt that with not only having the wellness part of it, also doing the resume was a plus to me.” - France

“I do not have words to express gratitude to The Book Foundation for expanding my classroom library over the last two years. To start, my students, and my school by extension, do not possess what we would refer to as a culture of reading, which means that overall the presence of more books, age-appropriate and culturally relevant books (many titles selected by my students), has created boundless opportunities for students to read more inside and outside my classroom. More than anything else, this singular artifact of comfort has, unquantifiably, improved my room's sense of safety and peace -- both essential for getting lost in a good read.” - Javier Caldera, Bright Star Schools/Stella High Charter Academy

Efforts like this matter because as a former foster youth life is a big struggle. Constantly overcoming obstacles and barriers. Life is just simply hard. A lot of my close friends that were in care are either addicted to drugs or dealing with severe mental health issues. Efforts like this matter because it helps you feel not so alone. Gives you inspiration to be successful and one day help others.” – Kristie

“Books open a world of possibilities and opportunities in life because of the skills they build. The students well exceeded their reading goals during our summer reading program!” - Project Joy Testimonial
