About Our Life Literacy Workshops

Life Literacy Workshops is an initiative to provide practical life skills for transitional-aged youth (TAY).

These workshops are intended for smaller groups and include areas such as financial literacy, budgeting, voting and advocacy, nutrition, cooking, and much more.

Collaborative partners include Children’s Action Network, Twinspire and kid-grit.

Following the workshop, we offer a pop-up shopping experience. In our new workshop series, we offer high-end rewards for completion of the series.

If you are interested in partnering on one of these workshops, please contact Marisa Materna at marisa@makegoodinc.org

Here are some testimonials from our attendees:

“I love how interactive the sessions were & how Tray went step by step in giving us knowledge about everything with grace. He made learning about finances seem easy. Marisa & Ruth always made sure that everyone was taken care of by checking in on all of us.” - Jackie

“I found the resume building so valuable. I am transferring to a new university and I’m looking for new job opportunities and elevating my resume is something that I always wanted to do.” - Francisco

“What I took from this workshop was how to learn how to cope with my mental health and if I need to step back and just be, I can. So I’m glad we are talking about that. Learning how to just step back, ask for help, and build a community where we can feel comfortable with having people help us and learning that people are going through the same thing we are.” - Kyla

“I appreciated the space to be vulnerable with my fellow peers and those who have the similar experiences as me.  You don’t get that opportunity with many other foster youth organizations, so that was really unique and I appreciated that very much. From the bottom of my heart.  I think what is really important is it's not about surviving it's about thriving and the way you went about this event with so much thought, care and effort, you gave us that." -Alex
